After 8 weeks, I lost track of how many Zoom meetings I’ve attended. I am now even dreaming of Zoom. So in other words, enough of Zoom! I want real social contact, even if it is from 6 feet away and less than 10 people for gathering. It’s ok to connect virtually through texting people, facetime, and Zoom, but living this as a way of life the way the pandemic has done, I would go stir crazy.
The COVID-19 lockdown has shown us the essential nature of human contact. It does not matter how we find human connection. It’s unique to each person and their circumstances, but we all need some face to face contact with others. It can be through the workplace, our neighbors, a spiritual/religious group, a volunteer group, extended family, and a network of small or large groups of friends/acquaintances. It’s needed. For me, I miss my volunteer work, my job, my spiritual groups, and the handful of friends/acquaintances I see in person throughout the year. I will never take these things for granted ever again. I will never ever say I am too busy for these things. Boy am I looking forward to getting back to these things once we return to the new normal!
Disclaimer: I am not anti-Zoom I just hope in the future this much use of Zoom does not happen!
